 | Dr. Michelle R. Callahan is a TV host, relationship expert, coach, developmental psychologist, and national media favorite. She is the savvy, "tell it like it is" psychologist and life coach television audiences turn to when they are looking for straight talk on relationships, life makeovers, mental health and empowerment. She is the author of Ms. Typed: Discover Your True Dating Personality and Rewrite Your Romantic Future (Crown, 2009).
Dr. Michelle is a national media favorite. She is the host of the daytime talk show "Wedlock or Deadlock." You've also seen her on shows like Oprah, Today and Tyra where she provides straight talk on everything from relationships to life makeovers. Dr. Michelle was the Co-host and Life Coach for the hit ultimate mean girl makeover reality series Queen Bees on The N, the network totally for and about teens. Dr. Michelle was also the Co-Host and Life Coach for BET's inside-outside makeover show REMIXED!
In addition to her hosting and her regular appearances on Today and the Tyra show, Dr. Michelle was the Resident Relationship Expert for the Ricki Lake show and has made several appearances on Vh1's The Fabulous Life Of…, CNN's Nancy Grace, CNBC's The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, Court TV's Closing Arguments with Nancy Grace, and the daily news live on MSNBC. Dr. Michelle has also appeared on the CW's America's Next Top Model, MTV's TRL: Total Request Live and MTV News, Food Network's Day to Day with Rachael Ray, CNN's Showbiz Tonight, ABC's Primetime, Vh1's All Access, Fox's Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, TV One's Baisden After Dark, BET's 106th & Park, and WE's Cinematherapy.
As an internal and external consultant to Fortune 500 companies, Dr. Michelle provided executive coaching, training and strategic organizational development consulting in areas including leadership development, conflict resolution, performance management, diversity, talent management, career management, mentoring, and employee relations. Dr. Michelle has provided client services for organizations such as MTV Networks, The New York Times, Vh1, BET and Nickelodeon. Dr. Michelle also worked as a Vice President at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.
Dr. Michelle is a Psychologist and expert in the following areas: family and romantic relationships, mental health, stress and coping, women's health and career development. She has conducted extensive research on the effects of violence in relationships on the mental health and coping skills of children, adolescents and adults. She has also researched the risk factors for teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS. Her original research has been published in journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, the Journal of Adolescent Research, The Journal of Adolescence, Violence Against Women and The Leadership Journal. She has presented her research at the national conferences of many professional associations including the American Psychological Association, The Society for Research in Child Development, The Society for Research in Adolescence and the National Council on Family Relations. As an instructor at the University of Michigan, Dr. Michelle taught Introductory and Developmental Psychology courses.
Dr. Michelle received her Ph.D and M.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and her B.A. in Sociology from Boston College. She was a National Institute of Mental Health Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Yale University.
